Caesar Salad
The Caesar salad is one of the world's favorite salads. A perfect starter salad for almost any dish, the Caesar salad is great for grilled fish and steak entrees, Italian cuisine, Mediterranean cooking, and many other kinds of food. The most common ingredients to a Caesar salad include a lot of simple ingredients that simply make a lot of sense when tossed together. These ingredients are romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese, eggs, pepper and olive oil. Variations of Caesar salad will occasionally include Worcestershire sauce and some lemon or lime juice.
There are many stories that claim to be the beginning of the Caesar Salad, but history states that a man name Caesar Cardini, who was a Mexican born in Italy, is the man responsible for creating this specific type of salad. Cardini started out in San Diego, but also had some working experience in Tijuana, Mexico where he was able to avoid prohibition restrictions. Cardini's daughter Rosa reported that the salad was invented when his father created the salad out of need, as an onslaught of customers on the 4th of July in 1924 depleted their supplies in the kitchen. This is believed by many to be the beginning of the now world famous Caesar Salad.
